It kind of sad when an amazing designer creates a limited edition product that is so lame. But Peter Saville, the man responsible for all that amazing Joy Division and New Order graphic design has designed a limited edition of 500 Microsoft Zune media players to commemorate the launch of the new documentary film Joy Division – The Documentary.
The limited-edition players will come pre-loaded with the documentary and will be etched with a reinterpretation Saville’s artwork for Joy Division’s “Unknown Pleasure” album. Only 500 will be made and will be available the same date as the DVD release, June 17th.
If they won’t sell as media players, maybe the will sell as art. Hey, at least it’s a step in the right direction for Microsoft. And they don’t make those very often. Must be the work of Ed Capuano.
