It’s Only Rick And Roll To Me

March 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Rickastley3The first time I was “Rickrolled” I didn’t even get it. I love pop-songs and Rick Astley’s Never Going To Give You Up is about as perfect a pop song as you can get. Painfully hooky, shamelessly 80s and epic in execution.

The LA Times got in touch with the singer to ask him how he feels about all the publicity his old song is getting.

“It’s a bit spooky, innit?” said Rick Astley, the singer who made the song famous in 1987 and who is not dead. . . . “I think it’s just one of those odd things where something gets picked up and people run with it,” Astley said. “But that’s what brilliant about the Internet.”

His resemblance with the blog author is uncanny.

Where’s Kurt Anderson and separated at birth when you need ‘em?
